Happy Holidays

Happy holidays to everyone. I haven't had much time for blogging, I don't know that I will in 2012 either. Truthfully, I find the whole scene of political blogs somewhat tiresome, with many simply incapable of actually having a conversation it seems, often descending in threats and accusations etc. Childish.

So here's to a better 2012, and perhaps less, of this horseshit. If that's possible.

the fun of commenting on conservative blogs

Well, not really. Today I dropped by the notorious Halls of macademia, and thought it was rather funny he would go off on a Liberal MP proposing more laws for speeding. This, in context of his beloved party gorging themselves on their law and order agenda, which is supposed to fix crime here in Canada. It seems all one has to do, is simply "return fire" as it were, in the same mocking tone of this brainless fool, and he goes off like a roman candle. It doesn't take much to get him screaming that somehow, you've been persecuting him with nazi references, even though I haven't bothered to comment there in a pretty long time. The level of stupid was more than I could have hoped for.

This is the kind of maturity level this sort of blogger has obviously, and note this is a hard core supporter of Stephen Harper. I bet this individual is a real hoot in person.

It was really, only a matter of time

Pastor Mike compares atheists to “convicted sex offenders , ex-convicts , terrorist cells , hate groups like the KKK , skinheads , radical Islamists , etc..”  He claims that the purpose of this organization/website called, "The Christian National Registry of Atheists" is to inform the public of known atheists so that they can be proselytize to and their businesses can be boycotted.

not likely to be found on any conservative blog

Traditional news media, has begun to crumble

Actually, I think it has started to crumble some time ago, but it wasn't as noticeable until now. The news of CTV Quebec City Bureau Chief Kai Nagata quitting his job, and his making public his reasons for doing so, has really only helped shine a spotlight on the problem.

Robin Rowland wrote a good blog post about this here.

It's worth noting, the handfulof conservative bloggers who regularly denounce news media such as CTV, are predictably quiet about this.

Toronto Mayor Ford snubbing massive community

Over 1 million people expected at Sunday's Pride parade

I still find it astounding that Ford would so blatantly give the 'fuck you' to such a huge community and probably one of the largest events in the city of Toronto. If you can't put aside your differences and support such a large Toronto community, then I really think Ford should step aside and let someone competent to represent the citizens of this city.

Political bloggers, are becoming just brainless

I've become less and less interested in blogs these days, and not just because I have less time for it. I certainly haven't spent much time here developing things as I thought I would, sometimes I think there are better things to blog about. I'm always just appalled at the sheer hypocrisy, ignorance, and outright lying I see on many political blogs, mostly conservative ones it seems. Commenting on them was once a sort of way to express disgust at the stupidity of some of them, but now I think there's really, little to be gained from it, and there'll always be lots and lots of these twits.

One such blog, Dr. Roy, supports, "Lord Black". He supports him! A conservative, law and order conservative that is, supports, a convicted criminal, sad, that he has been sent back to serve the rest of his prison term. Now, just where do you go with this? Really. No amount of reasoning would ever get through to people like this, they just are.

Of course, the other, er, neo conservative blog, is still apparently battling "nonnys" (anonymous commenters). He has complained of being threatened, people posing as him (imagine calling oneself "neo conservative"!), as well as all sorts of incredible wrongs. On more than one occasion, he has lied about the content of my comments, recently telling everyone I called him a dick. Of course I did no such thing, so a good guess is, he's likely making all the rest of his stories up as well. This, is a credible blog on the blogging tories? Really?

(Update on this, it seems someone according to other bloggers may actually be going around posing as other bloggers such as neo conservative. I may dislike his politic, and have had many an argument with him, this isn't cool.)

So, this is the kind of political bloggers out there who support our conservative government. You would think professional journalists would be better. Turn on the TV, and watch Ezra Levant. Just try it for, even 10 minutes. It isn't a whole lot different than what you see in the conservative blogosphere!

ahhh, the backpedalling begins

Tories back off campaign pledge to show a surplus by 2014-15

Well isn't this a huge surprise. This party has shown they know how to spend, not balance budgets. Too bad for all the Canadian families who bought this promise to wait 4 or 5 years for their tax breaks while they hand billions to rich corporations.

Well put

h/t to bigCityLib for this, this small article is quite bang on. I've said for some time, that Harper should just get his majority, and show what he's really about. Perhaps it should have happened 5 years ago. Meanwhile, many in the blogging tories are bewildered at the sudden rise in ndp fortunes. It seems unbelievable to them that such young and inexperienced candidates could possibly be elected. Even those who don't speak french, or even live in the riding. It couldn't be, that many Canadians really, didn't want Harper. Judging how the Harperites conducted themselves under a minority, one can only imagine what will happen in a majority.

election results

Well. First I want to say, phew. I want to say that, as a business owner, I'd far rather the tax money go into -my- pocket, rather than someone else's. I have had some ideas of getting a cool fancy car, but didn't go for it because I've been prudent. However, with these tax breaks, and the fact that the canadian dollar is higher than the US, one -could- go to the US where there are better deals, and our dollar is stronger than theirs. Did you really think I'd hire someone else because I got a tax break? You idiot. And did you really think with our dollar higher than the US's I spend it here in this country? You're a bigger fool than I thought!

Now on to more reality. I see that conservative everywhere have been showing their total class. Like this one for instance.  And of course, this one too. As per usual, he isn't interested in civil debate, but he sure seems into his other sex spam stuff.  Perhaps this is one of examples that shows why SNN is turning to pushup bras and lipstick to help with their ratings.

Ignatieff lost his seat, as did Duceppe. I liked Duceppe, but hated Ignatieff. Hopefully this time, the liberals can pick a leader who actually has the ability to communicate with voters. Ignatieff, I'm sure is very smart, but he just couldn't connect with the average Canadian. The conservatives have learned long ago, that 4 word phrases, regardless of whether their true or not, works best. Even Rob Ford figured that out with his "stop the gravy rain" rant, that even though voters couldn't quite articulate what they meant exactly, but it sure sounded good to them.

Well, here's Harper's chance to show what his agenda is, he no longer can blame the opposition, nor the senate (which he stacked with conservatives even though he said he wouldn't). He has total control in both houses, so, that crutch of it's someone else's fault? Gone.

Put into safe mode

linky
On the last day of the campaign, unsurprisingly, Harper has decided not to answer any questions whatsoever to the media.  Apparently, he was asked whether he would accept the GG's decision should he once again lose confidence in the house. He considered that a hypothetical question. That didn't stop him from spending millions in ads painting a "scary" hypothetical coalition scenario for Canadians though.

In other news, the blogging tories collectively seem to be just going apeshit over the latest flap over Layton, and an alleged bawdy house sighting. Ezra Levant on SNN seems to have gone all Glenn Beck on Layton. What may infuriate conservative bloggers, is Layton just may possess a similar ability like their dear leader, to deflect controversy and alleged scandal with ease.

Peter Russell on the election

Beyond what your politic may be, this is something that needs to be considered. Just as the conservatives screamed that after adscam, the liberals needed to be shown it was unacceptable by removing them from power, so should the Harper government be removed for their contempt of parliament.

Seen this on The Galloping Beaver.

They just don't stop...

Harper predicts pain at gas pumps should Layton grab share of power

Perhaps someone should tell Harper, that we're already seeing pain at the pumps, with him at the helm. But nothing has stopped the conservatives from tossing bullshit to scare voters into voting for them.

The latest nonsense was the flap over their smear campaign on Ignatieff, with the bogus photos of him dressed in US army fatigues. Of course predictably, they blamed it once again, on an overzealous staffer. It seems conservatives have a thing for blaming people for bogus things. Just like our pal Neo Conservative, who continually blamed me for threatening him with molotov cocktails etc., simply because he didn't agree with my opinions. I never did any such thing of course. But that doesn't seem to stop him, just like his buddies in Ottawa.

update:

Harper's gas-hike warning based on incorrect tweet

My. I'd say that has to sting, but I doubt that will stop them from continually shrieking this from the rooftops.

It's pretty amazing...

that it takes a Toronto woman, to try and force the release of the AG's report before the election. It could show what our ever so transparent conservative government did was illegal, or certainly, not so transparent and accountable. (story here )

In other news, Harper continues to "shrug off" warnings that the fighter jets will cost way more than they say it will. But this, along with a very long list of bullshit from this guy seem to be just fine with their supporters.

However, look at the numbers today:

Look at those conservative numbers dip. Good stuff
